The Adaptation
Fund was established to finance adaptation projects
and programmes in developing countries that:
- are parties to the Kyoto Protocol; and
- are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. The Climate Change induced by the Global Warming is increasing the burdens of the poorest people in the world. Those are often hardest hit by weather catastrophes, as extreme preciptations and droughts, desertification, and rising sea levels, but who have contributed the least to the Global Warming. In some parts of the world, Climate Change has already worsened food security and reduced the predictable availability of fresh water, besides exacerbating the spread of diseases and other threats to human health. To help the most vulnerable countries is a challenge and duty for the international community. Mainly because adaptation to Climate Change requires significant resources in addition to what is already needed to achieve the development objectives of these countries.Little, if compared with the needs, but better than nothing, by sure, over the past two years, the fund has dedicated more than US$165 million around the world to increase the Adaptation to Global Warming in 25 of these countries. To those interested is advisable to begin a proposal submission process by reading the Operational Policies and Guidelines for Parties to Access Resources from the Adaptation Fund.As a second step, fill out the form "Request for Project/Programme Funding from Adaptation Fund," found at the Submission Materials page.
Instructions to submission can be find at http://www.adaptation-fund.org/page/apply-for-funding.
And good luck.
