Continuity as recomended for Adaptation

The research with the municipal governments of the municipalities of the North and Northeast regions, accounting for 2/3 of the area of Brazil, lead, through the analysis of the data obtained, to the recomendation below. All the municipalities that answered the questionnaire were invited to send a representative to a Workshop that was assembled to discuss the recomendations of the research. This Wokshop confirmed the assertive:

Although there is a major awareness of the negative effects brought about by Climate Change, the degree of awareness of the need of Local Adaptation to Global Warming is still insufficient for the recommendation to implement a municipal department specific to this.  

The Workshop also confirmed the recommendation:

It is recommended that the theme of Adaptation to Global Warming be formally assigned, within the organizational structure existing in the municipal governments, to a sector of a technical nature.

The  Adaptation is a coordinated set of short and long-term policies and actions.
The long term aspect brings the need to continuation of knowledge accumulation and to continuity of actions that recomend a staff of permanent technicians, not changing as the winds of the political parties that run the municipal power.
